Last week, Elie was busy trying to fix her necklace (the cheap plastic beaded kind that you get in the quarter machines). She'd try and fail, try and fail, etc. So she was getting really pretty frustrated with the whole thing. She tried one more time and this time the necklace fell on the floor. She had just about had it at this point, so when the necklace fell-this was her response (and my reaction)...
Elie "D*#@ it!"
Me (shocked) "What did you just say?"
Elie "D#*@ it!"
Me (still shocked) "What did you say (as if I didn't hear it the first time)? Did you just say what I think you said (hoping she doesn't really answer me again)?"
Elie (slightly confused) "D*#@ it...why? Is that bad?"
Me "Elie...you can't say that word!"
Elie (more confused) "Why?"
Me (being the smart a** that I am) "Because it's a four letter word!" Ok, I knew she won't understand that one.
Elie (thinking really hard, head cocked to one side and counting with her fingers while mouthing something) "Well Mom...Elie is a four letter, right? E-L-I-E...see?"
Me "(blank)" Okay, I couldn't come up with a response to that. I was laughing to hard.
Elie "D*#@ it!"

Since when did my baby girl so smart that she can stump her mother?
Just and FYI...other four letter words in our house are Trae, Milk (only when it said by Elie), and Luke!

About my post... If Elie wants a kitten.. just tell the in-laws..:) they'll keep it for her.. then your always safe it that department! :)

Mine stump me all the time and it gets worse the older they get and the more my memory goes.

That is trully Hilarious! Unfortunately my kids hear more 4 letter words than they should.... I'm really trying to be better, thankfully they don't notice or call me on it too often.
P.S. I'm with Elie, milk is a four letter word ;)
