Saturday was Traeden's first official game as a member of the Woods Cross Wildcats Gremlin B team. He was so excited he had a hard time sleeping the night before. He even gave up a trip to Dallas with his dad (to see BYU at the new Cowboy's stadium) to play in his first game.
Last week was a scrimmage game held at Viewmont. After the game, the coaches told all the kids about what to expect (ie what was different) at a 'real' game. Traeden wouldn't shut up about it in the car too. Here is my best impression of Trae after last weeks game:
(you'll have to picture an 8-year-old super excited and talking 90 mph!)
Trae: "Next week is the real game with real refs and the chains and the down thingy that tells you how many more downs you have and yard lines and we are the only ones playing on the field with penalties and blocks and fumbles and touchdowns with extra points and it counts for real but there are no playoffs how cheap is that? It will be just like the pros I think with replays oh mom, do you think we'll have instant replay?"
Me: (laughing) "I don't think so honey."
Trae: (somewhat disappointed) "Why not?"
Me: (realizing I just crushed a 8 year old's heart) "Because they use the television cameras to view the play. There won't be any TV cameras there. I'm sorry!"
Trae: "OK. At least we get to wear our white game jerseys and blue pants with the long white socks and the coaches said that we get to wear our game jerseys to school on Fridays just like the older kids do on the high school team and are you going to come or do you have to work do you think that I'm going to do good a kicker what about a lineman and a flanker......)
Apparently my comment didn't really phase him that much and for that I am grateful.
Trae played Sat. And I'd like to say that he did a great job, but I didn't really see him on the field that much. All the kids kind of blend together and I had a really hard time picking him out unless he was standing right in front of me. With that said-his game was so much fun. I had a great time and look forward to all the others. If anyone is ever interested in coming to one, let me know and I can give you info. We will be traveling down south mostly in a couple of weeks.
Here are some of the pictures that I took to commemorate the First Official Game!

Wow.. You can tell he is yours and Jordan's for sure! I love how passionate he is about football! ~~ Kinda like his parents..:)
My family was so jealous that Jordan was at "the" most beloved game. I can't wait to hear about it.
Glad to see your back.. wasn't sure if you were mad at me.
Hope work is going good! :)
How fun! My nephew plays for Riverton and it is always fun to watch them.
That was so funny to hear his conversation!! I cannot believe how quickly he is turning into a little man! Glad he is so passionate about the game, he is quite talented! -Suzanne
